CUREfest & StART at the Station

I haven't posted anything in a long time because I've been so busy! I wish I could say I was busy getting ready for my next 2 shows. But the reality is, our new home has been taking up most of my creative energy lately.

John & I bought our first home in October. Its a 1930's cottage style home that needs some major updating. The first week we had several contractors coming in and out of the house - plumber, electrician, landscaping service, carpeting & plaster guy. John tore down old 1960's flocked wallpaper from all of the rooms to reveal yucky horsehair plaster underneath, so we had the plaster come through and skim coat all of the walls. After waiting for the walls to cure, we are finally in the painting phase. Which is so time consuming! (2 coats of icky oil primer and then 2 coats of latex).

We also had some issues with our bedroom upstairs - we couldn't get all the wallpaper off the walls (which we were hoping to paint - the upstairs has drywall). We decided to add beadboard wainscoting on the lower half of the wall and re-wallpaper the top half. So far we have the beadboard up and first coat painted, but we still need to put up the chair rail and then wallpaper the walls. These things take so long, especially when my better half is working 70 hours a week.

So the crafting was put on hold, for the most part. But I do have a good amount of items left to show, and hope to get a few more items made this week (ornaments and scarves!). Because I'll be doing 2 shows this weekend!!

I'll be at CUREfest at Clark U. on Saturday, December 5th from 12-5 PM selling notecards, prints, soaps, ornaments, jewelry and more. I'll also be at StART at the Station on Sunday, December 6th from 12-5 PM and will add some aprons, scarves and original artwork to my booth.

CUREfest was good. Its a small show but I've done well at it both years I participated. It doesnt cost that much for a table and it benefits one of the local AIDS Organizations.

StART at the Station was great this year! They rented some extra space upstairs and were able to open it up to even more vendors. Turnout was great!
